Description Dimensions Construction FAQ Specifications Reviews (1)

With this jet pump, any liquid (if not too thick) can be transported from one level to another or horizontally almost any distance and for priming centrifugal pumps. When operated by air the function is to exhaust air or gasses and form a partial vacuum but air cannot be used to elevate water as air does not mix with water and will not allow the water to pass through the delivery end of Ejector. By elevation is meant the distance from Ejector to same height above it. By lift is meant the distance from the Ejector to the surface of the water below. When the work is situated so that the Ejector must work both lifting and elevating it may be located to lift and elevate within the limits of 6 to 7.5 m Lift and elevate 12 to 18 metres with 27 to 45 kg pressure. When Ejector is placed not more than 3 feet above the surface of the water it will elevate 18 to 36 metres or proportionately with the steam pressure by which it is operated. Where an Ejector is used with a lift of 3 metres or over, a foot valve should be placed on the lower end of the suction pipe. Sizes available No. 1 to 8. Maximum steam temperature 200°C.

  • What is a Bronze Steam Ejector?

It is a jet pump for transporting liquids, lifting or elevating water, and exhausting air or gases. It operates by utilizing steam pressure to create a vacuum (venturi), facilitating the transfer of fluids or the priming of centrifugal pumps. With steam-powered systems, it can be used for fluid movement over distance or elevation.

  • How does a Bronze Steam Ejector work?

It uses steam to create a high-velocity jet that forms a vacuum, drawing liquid or gas into the system. When used with steam, it can transport liquids, elevate water, or exhaust air or gases. The pressure from the steam jet creates a liquid flow from one location to another, overcoming gravitational forces when lifting liquids or gases.

  • What is the difference between “lift” and “elevation” in the context of the Bronze Steam Ejector?

Lift refers to the distance from the ejector to the surface of the liquid being pumped, i.e., the vertical distance the liquid needs to be lifted. Whereas elevation refers to the horizontal or vertical distance the ejector can move the liquid from one level to another.

  • Can air be used in place of steam to operate the ejector?

While air can be used in some cases to exhaust gases and create a partial vacuum, it cannot be used to elevate water. This is because air does not mix with water, which prevents the water from being moved through the ejector. Steam is necessary for lifting water due to its ability to create the required pressure and vacuum.

  • What is the maximum lift and elevation achievable with the Bronze Steam Ejector?

The maximum lift range is from 3 to 7.5 meters and elevation range is from 12 to 18 meters, depending on the steam pressure. When the ejector is placed no more than 3 feet (approximately 1 meter) above the water's surface, it can elevate the liquid to 18-36 meters, proportional to the steam pressure.

  • Are there any limitations on the types of liquids that the ejector can handle?

The ejector is adequate for transporting most liquids, provided they are not too thick or viscous. The higher the viscosity, the less efficient the ejector becomes, as thick liquids may not flow smoothly through the system. Liquids with high viscosity or suspended solids need to be pretreated or filtered.

  • What is the recommended installation height for the ejector?

The ejector should be installed no more than 3 feet (approximately 1 meter) above the water's surface to achieve optimal performance. When operating with a lift of 3 meters or more, installing a foot valve on the lower end of the suction pipe is advisable to maintain efficient operation and prevent air ingress.

  • How does steam pressure affect the performance of the ejector?

Higher steam pressure can enable the ejector to achieve more significant lift and elevation. For instance, with pressures ranging from 27 to 45 kg, the ejector can elevate liquids to 18 meters and 7.5 meters, depending on the configuration and system conditions.

  • Why should a foot valve be installed when the lift is over 3 meters?

A foot valve ensures the ejector system maintains a continuous liquid flow by preventing backflow and air from entering the suction line. Without a foot valve, air may be drawn in when the system is under suction, disrupting the operation and reducing efficiency.

  • What sizes of Bronze Steam Ejectors are available?

Our Bronze Steam Ejectors come in sizes No. 1 to No. 8, each corresponding to different flow capacities and operating specifications. The size selection depends on the distance to be covered, the lift required, and the steam pressure available.

  • Can the ejector be used for other fluids besides water?

Yes, the ejector can be used to transport various liquids, provided they are not too thick or corrosive. However, the ejector's material (bronze) may limit its compatibility with highly acidic or corrosive fluids. Please always check compatibility with the specific fluid being used. If you are not sure about compatibility, please contact our customer support team for guidance.

  • Can the ejector be used for priming centrifugal pumps?

Yes, the Bronze Steam Ejector is commonly used for priming centrifugal pumps. It creates a vacuum to evacuate air from the pump casing, allowing the pump to start working and transport liquids effectively.

  • What industries use Bronze Steam Ejectors?

Our Bronze Steam Ejectors are widely used in industries such as, chemical processing, food and beverage, water treatment, oil and gas, power generation and pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.

  • Does the Bronze Steam Ejector come with a warranty?
